It was a beautiful fall day, wasn’t it? And then to cap things off, Mt. Baker emerged this afternoon from behind a curtain of clouds.
With spring just a few days away, boaters are making preparations for time on the water. This Saturday morning scene includes a couple of power boats in Fidalgo Bay, with Mt. Baker serving as a breathtaking point of reference.
The view across Ship Harbor wetlands, across the Guemes Channel looking to Mt. Baker. I’d recommend making a visit to this beautiful area before the summer onslaught at the state ferry terminal.

Traffic on the Guemes Channel is much heavier during summer months. This sailboat motors up the channel with Mt. Baker looming in the background. In the foreground are logs tied up near Randy’s Pier 61 Restaurant. It is not uncommon to discover seals sunning themselves on the logs.
