Northwest textures
One of the most impressive things about life in the western Washington is the fact that our moderate weather and steady rainfall provide the necessary elements for an array of year-round colors. Springtime, with its corresponding blossoms, is gorgeous, but that doesn’t mean the other three seasons aren’t beautiful, too. We are, after all, “the evergreen state!” An added variable in our corner of Washington is the interesting effect of sea air, which ages our housepaint, decks and fences at a notably accelerated pace. Included in this selection of Northwest colors and textures are a split rail fence, forest ferns, holly and tiny purple berries. Remember in your childhood the delight you took in lying in the grass, gathering flowers (even dandelions!) and exploring forest trails? I encourage you to take a relaxed outdoor stroll in one of our many parks or forests. Kneel down from time to time and examine the flora of Fidalgo. The rewards are great, and your little excursion won’t cost a dime.
