What a great party! Secretary of State Sam Reed was among dignitaries gathered Thursday, September 8 for the 100th anniversary of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce. Other honored guests included past Chamber presidents. The schedule of events included two cannon blasts, speeches, Chamber office tour and delicious food. Happy birthday, Chamber!

Pirates of all ages boldly strutted their stuff Saturday, August 27 at the annual Anacortes Work Boat Races. Near the end of the day, many of the unconventional lot gathered for the “Swagger & Stagger” competition. Competitors included cannoneers Lee and Betty Dawes.
Thanks to those who bring the “Traveling Tribute” scale model of the Vietnam War memorial to communities like ours. The display was open in the parking lot of the Swinomish Casino from Thursday to Sunday afternoon, thanks to the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) organization.
