Anacortes Salmon Derby: 2007

Looking Back to AnacortesToday.com archives and the days of a local salmon derby: “Wow, what a great inaugural year for the Anacortes Scholarship Salmon Derby! More than 750 tickets sold for the two-day derby, March 10-11, in Region 7, with 125 fish caught. Lots of food and thousands of dollars in cash awards and prizes. Derby participants now wait to see if they’ve won a $70,000 boat from the 2007 NW Salmon Derby Series. Top fish was 22 pounds, 8 ounces, caught by Ronald Henning ($5,000 prize!). Kudos to Jay Field and dozens of volunteers from the Fidalgo Island Chapter of the Puget Sound Anglers.
