High school senior Leah Heiberg (left), already a veteran volunteer at the annual Anacortes Community Thanksgiving dinner, took on cooking responsibilities this year under the supervision of her mother, Kelly (right). Both have joined others over the past several days in preparation of a free community banquet at the Eagles (Aerie and Auxiliary 249, Anacortes). This community tradition started twenty-plus years ago at the Case Cafe, which then became the Whistle Stop Cafe. The Eagles picked up the holiday commitment after the cafe closed.
