My first reaction upon arriving at Cap Sante Boat Haven’s North Basin was to get back in the car. I thought better of it, however, and discovered the walkway at Rotary Park was protected from the wind. In short, I had an enjoyable walk to the gazebo and back, stopping just long enough to take […]
New wharf and docks on the shoreline near Seafarers’ Memorial are visible from Cap Sante. This former paper mill site is going to be an awesome beachfront asset.
This section of the Fidalgo Bay shoreline is currenty closed to the public as an environmental cleanup/restoration is underway. But when it re-opens, it will be yet another amazing “jewel” in the treasure chest of Anacortes assets. This section of beach is part of the former Scott Paper mill site, adjacent to Cap Sante Boat […]
Summer sunshine draws thousands to Deception Pass State Park, which includes beaches, trails and camping on Whidbey AND Fidalgo islands. This photo of North Beach was taken from the bridge.
It’s beach season (some visit year-round, but I’m a fair weather beachcomber). Truth be told, this footprint is actually from an 11.5 tennis shoe. Big feet, big heart?
Beach cleanup and area improvements including street resurfacing and sidewalks continue at the end of Commercial Avenue adjacent to the Port of Anacortes warehouse. A water line will be installed between the port building and “O” Avenue, providing improved fire protection for a facility that is often used for community events.
Crabbing has been great this summer, which is good news for lovers of Northwest seafood. Not so good news for the crab.
This photograph from Cap Sante offers a birdseye view of activities on part of the Fidalgo Bay shoreline adjacent to Cap Sante Boat Haven. The beach serves as a staging area for environmental cleanup and construction of a new breakwater for the marina. Visible in the center left is the marine skills center, under construction […]
Sunday was a wonderful day for a visit to the beach. Sunshine and unseasonably warm temperature drew this family to the beach at Deception Pass State Park. I opted for the view from the bridge.
The light was beautiful Saturday, early evening at Sunset Beach, Washington Park.
Everything about this photograph is “Pacific Northwest,” from heron to hues of color on the Guemes Channel shoreline between Port of Anacortes Pier 1 and Curtis Wharf. A quiet Saturday morning before the annual rumble of motorcyles arriving for Oyster Run.
This young kayaker made his way along the busy shoreline at Sunset Beach, a gathering spot for dozens of folks last weekend. Activities at Washington Park range from camping and Loop Road walking to picnicking and boating. Always a great place to be on a sunny day.
