Ducks love water, so naturally they love Fidalgo Island. I found dozens this afternoon on pond and bays of Fidalgo Island.

If we experienced a bit of snow here on the island, you can be sure the snowpack has begun to build on Mt. Baker (viewed here from Anacortes across Fidalgo and Padilla bays).
Site preparation continues in earnest on Anacortes waterfront property owned by MJB of Seattle. City Planner Grace Pollard describes the project as “a mix of commercial, hospitality, cultural, recreational and residential uses.” A shoreline trail will add to the city’s pedestrian path system.
