I don’t recall details. My records simply label this outdoor event at Whitney Elementary School a “celebration.” Lots of music featuring not only students but teachers and administrators. State ferry Kaleetan and a sister boat pass each other in the Guemes Channel, one on the way to the San Juans and the other on a return trip to Anacortes. State ferries are a beautiful element of the “scenery” here in this neck of the woods.
It was a great day. A number of oystercatchers arrived at the beach near the ferry terminal, content to have me photograph them as they moved along the shoreline, drinking occasionally from the fresh water coming from the bluff above. A beautiful bird!
I love this area of Deceeption Pass State Park. There is a winding paved pathway (ADA standards) between Cranberry Lake and the dunes area of West Beach.
