Samish welcome guests: 2005

It was July 2005 when Northwest tribes took part in a traditional Canoe Journey that on this occasion led to the shores of Fidalgo Island. The Samish Indian Nation hosted this summer event, welcoming guests to their Weaverling Spit gathering place.

New panels tell ‘Maiden’ story

Four colorful new interpretive signs were installed recently at the “Maiden of Deception Pass” pole at Rosario Beach. The story of the Maiden is about the kinship of the Samish people and the sea. East Cranberry dock to be replaced

Citing environmental and safety concerns, State Parks has plans to replace the existing pier, gangway and float at East Cranberry Lake in Deception Pass State Park. This popular park asset was constructed using creosote timbers. The new facility, a bit smaller with 2,237 square feet of overwater coverage, will include steel grating materials.
