With strong winds the rule rather than the exception these days, I couldn’t help but wonder about the perch this bird had taken on a windmill in the “Skagit Flats” area just east of Fidalgo Island. Perhaps the windmill was in “locked” position…

Citing environmental and safety concerns, State Parks has plans to replace the existing pier, gangway and float at East Cranberry Lake in Deception Pass State Park. This popular park asset was constructed using creosote timbers. The new facility, a bit smaller with 2,237 square feet of overwater coverage, will include steel grating materials.
