What a wonderful view seat this woman had at Deception Pass Friday, alone with her thoughts … and a smartphone with earplug. The park crowd was small, even less so away from West Beach. Cleanup work continues after a dramatic Wednesday night windstorm.

With strong winds the rule rather than the exception these days, I couldn’t help but wonder about the perch this bird had taken on a windmill in the “Skagit Flats” area just east of Fidalgo Island. Perhaps the windmill was in “locked” position…
