It is always a worthwhile adventure to drive to Cap Sante for a view of Wednesday night sailboat races on Fidalgo Bay. Thanks to the Anacortes Yacht Club.
The state ferry “Yakima” is currently in drydock at Dakota Creek Industries (DCI) in Anacortes for scheduled maintenance. According to Washington State Ferries (WSF) it is estimated to return to service on the Anacortes/San Juan Islands route in mid-October.

By this time next year the North Basin uplands of Cap Sante Marina in downtown Anacortes will boast 25 full-hookup RV sites as well as additional parking and services including restrooms and laundry. The Port of Anacortes project started this summer and completion is estimated in the Spring of 2024. Project Manager is Jenkins Dossen.

The Guemes ferry, for many decades a vital link between “Dog Island” and Fidalgo Island, which is served by bridges. A tiny vessel compared to state ferries coming in and out of town to the west. The ferry, operated by Skagit County, is scheduled to be replaced by an electric vessel.
After a Tuesday arrival up the Guemes Chennel, the bulk carrier “Lanna Naree” is tied up at Port of Anacortes Pier 2 taking on a load of petroleum coke (a byproduct of the refining process). This vessel conducts business under the flag of Thailand.
