Navy ‘Prowlers’ May 2006

The Grumman EA-6B was a four-seat electronic countermeasures aircraft flown out of Whidbey Island Naval Air Station for many years. I shot this photo before a Cessna flight with a civilian instructor associated with non-Navy operations at a facility adjacent to the Oak Harbor base. The civilian group has since relocated to Bayview Airport in […]

Wyman’s Marina 2009

It was already closed and literally on the way out, but this 2009 photo shows tiny Wyman’s Marina (previously Robinson’s) on the Guemes Channel in Anacortes (white buildings). Part of the privately owned marina was disassembled by this time, and ultimately demolished as part of a mitigation project by the Port of Anacortes. The blue […]

This is a scale model of the bronze sculpture that ultimately made its home at the main dock entrance to Cap Sante Boat Haven. Sculptor Gerard K. Rare sighting

On my many trips to and from Whidbey Island over the years, I have only seen an eagle on this Fidalgo Island snag on two or three occasions. On this day in 2013 I was fortunate to find a parking spot and get to Canoe Pass Bridge in time to take a few shots.
