I was checking out the Deception Pass Bridge painting project when the tug Quilceda moved into my view, pushing a barge with crane toward Lighthouse Point Monday morning.
People on or around Fidalgo Bay Wednesday afternoon might have seen this unique vessel spraying with a water cannon. The custom built boat is part of Marathon Refinery’s emergency response fleet, with boats docked both at the refinery and the March’s Point wharf.
What a great afternoon Thursday at the Anacortes High School track, where AHS hosted a track and field competition including athletes from Burlington-Edison and Blaine. A solo kayaker approaches the northwest bluff of Pass Island, which lies between Whidbey and Fidalgo islands. His plan was to pause for a few minutes to pump out water taken on during exercises in the Canoe Pass currents.
