A photo from my transparency files, 2008. April is officially Skagit Valley Tulip Festival month.
A photographer focuses on a wave-beaten Deception Island from his position above the beach at West Point, Deception Pass State Park.
I’m guessing most area parks were busy Tuesday as sunshine and spring break prompted people to get outside! At Rosario I spotted picnickers, beach walkers, tidepool explorers, kayakers, fishermen, families … and even a couple of small dogs sharing a paddleboard with their favorite human (definitely on a short leash). It was great to have […]
What a day! A visit to Rosario Beach felt just like a summer excursion. Lots of folks, from hikers and kayakers to picnickers and beach walkers. Sun on the face, clear blue skies. Bring it on!
I’m looking forward to the day we see community events such as this once again. These photos were taken at the Car Show held in conjunction with the 2015 Anacortes Waterfront Festival. I hope everyone has tucked away contact information so we can put community festivals and events back on the calendar again soon.

On the Guemes Channel, crews load the Amber Star with petroleum coke from the Shell Refinery while the San Juan Enterprise prepares to take on a load. At Cap Sante Marina there is less contractor equipment in the water as a new “A” Dock moves closer […]
Ducks have been plentiful, but I haven’t seen so many bunnies as I saw this morning on my walk through the wetlands at Ship Harbor. Hoping also for the return of osprey.
It was mid-March 2015 when blue skies and the promise of seasonal images drew me over the bridge from Fidalgo Island to the Skagit Valley. I was not disappointed. One of these shots features not only tulips, but a huge flock of snow geese in the background. Gotta love Spring!
Hikers approach the crest of a trail at Rosario Head on Fidalgo Island.
Of course I enjoyed the sweeping view of water from this Fidalgo Island bluff trail, but I also scanned the “floor” and “walls” for natural beauties. South Fidalgo, trail between Rosario and Bowman Bay.

Locker, now retired from football and raising a family in Whatcom County, spoke of leadership in a presentation featuring humor, scripture and even a flip chart. “Fear,” he said, “leads to despair. I spotted the eagle first, and then a few minutes later noticed a kayaker approaching the rocks where it was perched. Kayaking and wildlife photography … a great combination! Gull Rock near Rosario.
