A South Fidalgo bluff trail hike yielded many opportunities to photograph native plants, including Indian Paintbrush, one of my favorites.

Yesterday on a hike at Rosario Beach I decided to examine and record some of the details carved into LaConner sculptor Tracy Powell’s “Maiden of Deception Pass” story pole, commissioned by the Samish Indian Nation in the early Eighties. An incredible piece of work.

This event was fun! The Port of Anacortes hosted an open house at the airport, featuring a full schedule of options ranging from static displays to live music, food and a wildlife show. Perhaps again someday?

This bald eagle’s white head against the South Fidalgo bluff wall caught my attention. He was perched on a snag over Canoe Pass, a snag that has since snapped in half. I haven’t seen an eagle in this location since.
