Port considers marina “T” Dock changes

Port of Anacortes commissioners heard from staff recently a report detailing options for improvements at Cap Sante Marina “T” Dock. Those options include three designs that would range in cost from $2-$3.4 million. A volunteer Port advisory group indicated preference for the $3.4 million option, said Port Director of Operations John Dumas. This option would […]

Boaters back in big numbers

It’s the water! Despite the decidedly negative impact of COVID-19 in the first half of the year, the Port of Anacortes said the number of guest boat customers at Cap Sante Marina rose dramatically in July and August. Port Director Dan Worra reported at a recent commission meeting that there were 4,084 guest boater nights […]

Marina ‘hole’ to be filled: 2015

Cap Sante Marina hasn’t always looked like it does today, as evidenced by this November 2015 image from Cap Sante. The “hole” in the harbor was filled with new floating concrete docks. Many other improvements have been made to this beautiful public facility by the Port of Anacortes in recent years.

Lady Washington in Anacortes: 2004

This lady has been one of my favorite photo subjects for MANY years now. She’s a regular in Anacortes, docking at Cap Sante Marina for tours and jaunts in local waters. Not sure we’ll see her this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

North Basin, Cap Sante Marina

Always beautiful, particularly so on a summer morning like today: the North Basin at Cap Sante Marina. The popular Rotary Park paved path runs along the base of Cap Sante to a gazebo near the marina breakwater. There is also a nice stretch of public beach.

Opening Day Boating Season: 2013

Scenes from Opening Day of Boating Season 2013, hosted by the Port of Anacortes at Cap Sante Marina. There was no 2020 event due to COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings. Activity on local waters is starting to pick up, however. Sunny blue summer days have an amazing power to draw folks out.

Out with the old, in with the new

There have been many changes on the downtown Anacortes waterfront since June 2005, when this photo was taken from Cap Sante. Some buildings are gone, other “new” ones have been built. Have some fun comparing yesterday with today…
