Last week’s snow and subsequent rain caused damage resulting in the temporary closure of Deception Pass State Park. This massive Douglas Fir downed in the parking lot of North Beach demonstrates just one of the cleanup challenges facing the park crew. Countless boughs and branches litter trails and forest floor. East Cranberry dock to be replaced

Citing environmental and safety concerns, State Parks has plans to replace the existing pier, gangway and float at East Cranberry Lake in Deception Pass State Park. This popular park asset was constructed using creosote timbers. The new facility, a bit smaller with 2,237 square feet of overwater coverage, will include steel grating materials.
