Several years of planning and construction culminated Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Anacortes Airport. Port tenant 48 Degrees North marked completion of another phase of hangars, bringing to 40 the total of hangars they have built at the local airport.
Included on a tour of the Port’s Fidalgo Bay cleanup was this portable structure located on Pier 2 near the Guemes Channel. Port of Anacortes commissioners and staff hosted a ribbon-cutting event Tuesday morning a the site of the Port’s latest waterfront restoration project. The “O” Avenue/Railroad Avenue Mitigation Project was funded by a Job Development Fund (JDF) grant from the state Department of Commerce. A beachfront interpretive sign was funded by the Skagit Marine Resource Committee. […]

Currently taking on a load of petroleum coke from Shell Puget Sound Refinery is the MV Ken Sea, a cargo ship making its maiden voyage. The ship is moored all week at Port of Anacortes Pier II. Pet coke is a fuel refining byproduct used in the production of aluminum.
Port of Anacortes facilities already include awesome public amenities at Cap Sante Boat Haven, but now there is a new park at the foot of “O” Avenue on the Guemes Channel. This park project, which included environmental enhancements (removal of creosote pilings, etc.), was funded in part by the state Department of Commerce JDF program.
Currently docked at the Port of Anacortes is the Black Ball Ferry Line vessel “Coho,” the bow of which is visible from the foot of “O” Avenue. Dramatic progress has been made in recent weeks at Dakota Creek Industries, where a partnership between DCI and the Port of Anacortes will lead to additional shipyard space by next spring.
