Anacortes-born yacht
Among local boat manufacturers is Northern Marine, Inc., which built this 127-foot yacht named “Magic.” For a sense of the boat’s size, see workers detailing the hull. The vessel is custom built, a real tribute to local designers and craftsmen.

City birthday
This year marks the 125th anniversary of the establishment of a post office under the name “Anacortes.” Among several birthday cakes offered at last weekend’s 4th of July celebration was a boat cake designed by Mike and Annie O’Brien. City founder Amos Bowman created the name Anacortes from his wife’s maiden name: Annie Curtis.
