Gere will not seek third term

Anacortes Mayor Laurie Gere announced Thursday night she will not seek a third term, opening the door early for others to consider a mayoral run. Gere, a local restaurateur, has been elected to two four-year terms as mayor, with extensive past public service including city planning commission and city council.
