Local teen and dog win top international honors

Anacortes teen Jenai Pittis and her Eurasier, Kuma, added International Champion to their titles last weekend! Sixteen-year-old Jenai took Kuma to a National Champion title in 2021 as a puppy. Nighttime runners: 2017

“Runners” sculpture photographed at night in October 2017. This piece by Seattle artist Ken Turner features two eight-foot figures running south on “Q” Avenue, which links to the popular Tommy Thompson Trail. It is located near the Northwest Center of Excellence for Marine Manufacturing and Technology.

Cannery labels, public art

Years ago someone came up with the brilliant idea of replicating salmon can labels on public waste receptacles in Anacortes. This community was once the salmon canning capital of the world! This can is located at Seafarers’ Memorial Park.
