I took this photograph from the railing near the boat launch at Cap Sante Boat Haven. That’s Cap Sante in the background, and if you look carefully you’ll spot a seagull. Effective November 1 there will be a temporary crane lift for boaters as the existing monorail launch is torn out and replaced by the […]
Work continues on new railings at Cap Sante Boat Haven, the downtown marina owned and operated by the Port of Anacortes. Pictured here is a new compass rose design built into the deck of the main entrance to the marina.
I was pleasantly surprised Monday morning to discover old college friend Chip Hall working at Cap Sante Boat Haven. Chip is installing new railings on the main entrance to the marina, a project under contract to Culbertson Marine. This pedestrian-friendly element of the marina redevelopment project will ultimately become a sparkling gem in the crown […]
Even though she’s pushing a loaded cart uphill, it’s hard to feel sorry for someone who’s unloading a boat on what most of us would describe as a workday afternoon. Still, I had the opportunity to be out in the sun myself, didn’t I? Ah, the good life.
I’m not saying there has never been a couple engaged in watching “submarine races” from Cap Sante, but this particular couple spent a relaxing part of Wednesday evening watching sailboat races in Fidalgo Bay. Boats and crews are from the Anacortes Yacht Club.
I took this photo of the Port of Anacortes’ marina and downtown Anacortes from the bluff on the south side of Cap Sante. Grab your lunch and head for this awesome viewpoint.
Again today I post a photo taken Monday morning from the bluffs of Cap Sante, this shot of a power boat returning to port as a sailboat ventures out. Water color and texture were amazing.
A visit to Cap Sante is always a good idea, but this morning I was particularly pleased with the images my little hike yielded. Check out the beautiful water in this photo, taken of a kayaker venturing forth from Cap Sante Boat Haven. This photo was taken as he rounded the corner of Cap Sante […]
Each day brings dramatic changes at Cap Sante Boat Haven, the public marina operated by the Port of Anacortes. Improvements at the marina will include a focus on pedestrian-friendly design. Some new boat slips have been installed, too. See www.portofanacortes.com for details about the project.
This was the scene Monday morning at Cap Sante Boat Haven, looking south from the marina esplanade toward Seafarer’s Memorial Park. Visible in the distance are the two new “Cannery” buildings under construction a stone’s throw from Fidalgo Bay. Plans for the area call for making the public marina neighborhood even more pedestrian friendly.

This Thursday afternoon perspective looks down on a chilly city as afternoon temperatures begin to drop. See more photos in Activities section under “Snow on the rock.” It was 21 degrees Friday a.m. with a high of about 30 degrees projected.
