Huge seal takes a breather

I was fortunate to encounter this seal on the edge of a bluff at Rosario this morning. Big! And so impressively agile under water. I had about two minutes of quality time before he departed for deeper waters.

Spring break brings folk outside

I’m guessing most area parks were busy Tuesday as sunshine and spring break prompted people to get outside! At Rosario I spotted picnickers, beach walkers, tidepool explorers, kayakers, fishermen, families … and even a couple of small dogs sharing a paddleboard with their favorite human (definitely on a short leash). That summer feelin’

What a day! A visit to Rosario Beach felt just like a summer excursion. Lots of folks, from hikers and kayakers to picnickers and beach walkers. Sun on the face, clear blue skies. Bring it on!

Fidalgo fog

It is the season of fog, and the Northwest is still experiencing some level of smoke from wildfires to the south. Fog did not hamper the spirits of people yearning for outdoor experiences Saturday. At Rosario Beach, and again at Bowman Bay, adventurers ranged from hikers to families with children; from kayakers to scuba divers. […]
