Virtual winter

Friend Del Zane had some fun in his “virtual darkroom” with an image he shot last summer, applying effects that seem to illustrate a “winter in Anacortes” scene. See more of Del’s work at Delzane.com.

Living art

Art of a different variety, Saturday evening during the Anacortes Chamber Holiday Artwalk. “Mannequins” in salon windows turned out to be very much alive. Red and Ryan Chanel salons. Model on the right gives whole new meaning to the expression “heavy makeup.” Anyone know details?

Through mutual friend Diane Erholm, I worked on Bob’s first campaign in 1992. This photo was […]

Spokane hockey

These 1974 (or ’75) photos represent a major sentimental journey in terms of my photography career. I was in Pullman, a senior with an opening in my schedule, so I signed up for a photography course. I borrowed my friend Keith Thurman’s 35 mm camera and on this occasion, headed for an amateur hockey game […]

Fond memories

I remember when Election Day called for a visit to a neighborhood polling place. This photo was taken at Island View Elementary School in 2004, before mail-in ballots became The Method of casting one’s votes. Pictured here are “judges” Verna Berentson (left) and Sally Starnes, with “inspector” Joyce Baker looking on. Baker reported at that […]
